It is possible that I haven't yet adjusted to this not working malarkey. It's only been six days but perhaps I have too much time and thoughts to be harnessed.
For I have been enjoying, during this week past, the antics of five snails that seem to have moved into my Dublin garden. And what antics they get up to, mad little critters that they are. They show themselves at night. Eating algae, pooing, sliming, hiding under the bins. It's been a non-stop party out there all week. I'm exhausted just watching them.
I am curious to know if they are the same five snails, or if there's an occasional interloper to the happy little gang, upsetting the hierarchy with slimier trails and bigger poos. After much googling, which included finding a blog dedicated to snails, I discovered that it would not harm them if I applied a little dot of nail varnish to their shells (being very careful that it does not touch their bodies or to place it on a damaged part of a shell).
Therefore, I now present SNAILED - not quite as good as Desked.
In addition to colour coding them, I decided to name them for fellow bloggers. Five whose blogs I found soon after I started blogging myself, and who I check almost every day. There are many on my blog roll, and others, who should have their very own snail. I only regret that there's not thirty snails in the garden.
Although that would be a lot of nail polish colours I'd have to buy. I have four.
But as more move into the Happy Snail Sanctuary of Meadow, so they too will be colour dotted and named.
I'll let you know how the snails party on.
The Gastropoda Five
Red - Red. As you can see, this one got a bit sulky with me but I don't mind as he's an avid (re)cycler.
Terence - Black and white dots in homage to your mad cow. He was in a hurry. Somewhere. Something about slime levels.
Radge - The polish is called Snowflake. Sorry about that. A shy and retiring type, this one.
Holemaster - Black dot, black hole. It's late. He likes the camera.
NaRocRoc - Silver dot. And this is why you deserve, nay, need a snail in your life.

You sicken me Meadow. As somebody who has campaigned their entire life to have snail grafitiers locked up, I find your shell desecration nothing short of disgusting.
Oh sure, you'll plead innocent motives. But this is the thin end of the wedge. It starts with colour coding of snails, and pretty soon there's traumatised squirrels running around with 'MEADOW WOZ ERE' scrawled across their backs.
Who told you about those squirrels, Flann? Who told you?

I'm a snail. I've truly arrived.
It took me fucking ages as you'd expect cos I'm a snail and all but now I will leave wispy, magical silvery trails in my wake forevermore and they won't even be snots.
